On the 6th October, 2011 a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation between the Verkhovna Rada of Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Council of Ministers of Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for Development of Ukraine was signed. Memorandum was signed within the Foundation' program "Stop TB in Ukraine», which is implemented under support of the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malary.

By signing this Memorandum, the Foundation agrees to provide $ 2 million to address the tuberculosis epidemic.

The money intended to fund the tuberculosis control, belongs to the international community - the Global Fund. Ukraine received these funds 4 failures. Considering our vast experience in tuberculosis control, the money was entrusted to Rinat Akhmetov Foundation.  If we work well, it will show that Ukraine can work well and it can be trusted with that amount of money", - noted the Director of the Charitable Foundation for Development of Ukraine Anatoliy Zabolotny.

Crimean officials have already decided where to allocate funds received from the Foundation.
These funds will be spent for equipment of TB diagnostics laboratories, anti-TB drugs will be purchased, TB doctors will be trained and information campaign among the population will be carried out. It seems to me, state resources are not enough to fight TB. It is necessary to bring together government, private and public sectors. And now we did the first step in this direction by signing the memorandum  - said the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of AR Crimea Konstantin Bakharev

Rinat Akhmetov Foundation “Development of Ukraine” together with FC “Shakhtar” gives a play-day for children from foster families

On September 20, before the national Adoption day, that is celebrated in our country in the end of the month, “Pitmen” were hosting children from foster families. FC “Shakhtar” together with Rinat Akhmetov Foundation “Development of Ukraine” have organized this party day for 37 children from 4 to 17 years from Donetsk, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions within the joint project, Say No to Orphanhood.

– In our country, there are about 100 000 orphans, and only one tenth of them being are brought up in families, says Yuri Sviridov, the Marketing and Communications Director of FC “Shakhtar”.  – Family-type organizations are very effective tools in the fight against social orphanhood in Ukraine. That is why FC “Shakhtar” has been involved for a long time in this project organized by Rinat Akhmetov’ Foundation, supporting this important direction. Together we want to draw attention of community and fans to this problem, using all our capacities.

Almost all the day kids from five families together with their foster parents were walking around the stadium and museum, had played tabletop football with the animators, and took the pictures with the Moles (mascots of Shakhtar). Even the Fan-cafe located at the stadium was at their disposal. Here, young visitors had the delicious breakfast and lunch, as well as rested after two hours of exciting excursions, but also met with the organizers of the festival, who presented gifts from Shakhtar.

– We are all so impressed – Elena Zosim-Vinnik, the mother of two and adoptive mother of five, could not hide her feelings. – Frankly, until now, I could hardly believe that kids could be invited and come to the stadium just like that and get such memorable experiences. I thought it was a joke and even called back – it turned out to be true. We are not accustomed to that much attention and such presents, so we are very grateful that we had an opportunity to visit Donbass Arena. After all, all our children are football fans. Look at them – they are happy!

According to the children, visiting their favorite team locker rooms and museum of the club was the most interesting thing for them on this day. Championship trophies, life-size statues of players, hand- and footprints of legendary players, photos of Pitmen on the Wall of Fame – everything was interesting to the children. They were taking pictures next to almost every exhibit. And the foggy screen and interactive “football” floor brought the guys to the real excitement.

Darya Kasyanova, Leader of foster care promotion and family building in Rinat Akhmetov’ Foundation “Development of Ukraine”:
FC “Shakhtar” has been our partner in the project Say No to Orphanhood since the last year. It is very important that the football club, players and employees share our values and are doing their best that children live and are raised in the families. It has become a tradition that we invite children from family-type organizations to visit Donbass Arena. Last year we held such event, but only children from Donetsk region were invited. This time, we expanded the geography. The kids dreamt to see the Donbass Arena, they have never been here before. We gave them this opportunity and are happy that the children’s party was a success.

Naomi Campbell to be honored for charity work

NEW YORK (AP) — Naomi Campbell has made plenty of headlines for her bad behavior, but next month, the spotlight is set to shine on the model for something positive — her charitable work.

Campbell and her boyfriend, Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin, are going to be honored at the annual Angel Ball, which supports cancer research.

"She really is amazing woman and she does a lot for charity. She has her own charity. She raised a lot of money this summer for Haiti and for AIDS relief," said Denise Rich, the songwriter who started the Angel Foundation after her daughter, Gabrielle, died of leukemia.

Rich spoke about Campbell during a party hosted at her home Saturday night. It was co-hosted by Jade Jagger. Tina and Solange Knowles were also in attendance, as was Rich's best friend, singer Natalie Cole.

Cole said people should not be shocked that Campbell, who has pleaded guilty several times to assault, is being honored, and that the model is misunderstood: "She has been behaving herself. She is a good girl. I think there are just certain people who get on her nerves and I understand that."

The Angel Ball will be held on October 17 and will feature performances by Patti LaBelle and Eve.

Rinat Akhmetov Congtratulates on the Miner's Day and the Donetsk City Day

Dear friends!
On August 28 we celebrate the Miner’s Day, a professional holiday of the brave and courageous people whose work is a daily feat.

This day is special for the Donetsk citizens - the Miner's Day and the Donetsk City Day.

“Donetsk” and “a miner” are closely connected words that complement each other. And this is our strength.

On this day we express our sincere gratitude to every miner for his professionalism and self-sacrificing work.

Mining is the most heroic profession and it still remains one of the most dangerous jobs. Our priority is to make it as safe as possible.

It will always be a heroic profession because the heroism is part and parcel of a miner.

I sincerely wish every miner's family in Donetsk and all other regions of Ukraine confidence in the future, good health and prosperity.

Happy Miner's Day! Happy City Day!

FC Shakhtar President Rinat Akhmetov
